About Us
Brown Bears Nursery is committed to providing high-quality care and education, ensuring every child thrives in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. We are looking for two passionate and dedicated Nursery Practitioners (Level 2 or 3) to join our team at our Green Lanes nursery and help shape the learning journey of young children.
Role Overview
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing excellent care, safeguarding children, and delivering engaging play experiences aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Your role includes supporting children’s emotional, social, and educational development while maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and age-appropriate activities for children aged 0-5 years.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and stimulating learning environment.
- Plan, observe, and assess children’s progress in line with EYFS.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
- Act as a key person for assigned children, maintaining Learning Journals and supporting individual needs.
- Support children’s social and emotional development, encouraging independence and positive behaviour.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding, health, and safety regulations.
- Assist with personal care duties, including nappy changes and feeding.
- Keep accurate records of children’s progress, accidents, and incidents.
- Participate in training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
Essential:
- Level 3/4 qualification in Childcare (or willingness to enrol in Level 3 if Level 2 qualified).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and child protection.
- Experience in a childcare setting (12+ months preferred, but newly qualified candidates will be considered).
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work as part of a team, showing initiative and reliability.
- Passion for early childhood education and child development.
Desirable:
- Paediatric First Aid certification.
- Training in behaviour management.
- Experience with SEN support.
- Knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety practices in a childcare setting.
